Biden says he’d make Michelle Obama his running mate 'in a heartbeat'

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden said during a new interview that he would haven't any hesitation picking former first lady Michelle Obama to be his campaigner, but added that he doubts she is curious about the position.

“I’d take her during a heartbeat,” Biden told Pittsburgh’s KDKA on Monday when asked if he’d choose Obama if she said she would be willing to get on the ticket with him.
“She’s brilliant. She knows the way around. She may be a really fine woman. The Obamas are great friends,” Biden added.

Biden, however, said that he doesn’t think she is curious about the position.
“I don’t think she has any desire to measure near the White House again,” he said.
Biden said he’s still within the process of deciding whom to select. He again committed to picking a lady but didn't plan to choose a lady of color.

“I’ll plan to that [it will] be a lady because it's vital that my administration appears as if the general public, appear as if the state. And there'll be, committed that there'll be a lady of color on the Supreme Court, that doesn’t mean there won’t be a vice-chairman, as well,” Biden said.
The former vice-chairman, who served under former President Barack Obama, has previously said that he would really like Michelle Obama as his campaigner.
At an Iowa campaign stop in January, he said he “sure would really like Michelle to be the vice-chairman .”

Several names are speculated as potential running mates for Biden, including a number of his former primary opponents who have shown interest within the position.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said last week in an interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow that she would say yes if Biden asked her to be vice-chairman, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said last week she would be “honored” if she were being considered as Biden’s campaigner.

Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has also said she would really like to function vice-chairman.
Abrams told Elle magazine last week she would make an “excellent” campaigner for Biden.
Biden also confirmed earlier this month that he's considering Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) for the spot.
