Colin Kaepernick’s Independence Day Message: ‘We Reject Your Celebration of White Supremacy’

On Independence Day, Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter to issue a powerful rebuke for the nation's founding celebration.
America has been "dehumanizing, brutalizing, criminalizing + terrorizing" Blacks for decades, according to Kaepernick. He also called the celebrations commemorating a "celebration of white supremacy" that formed the nation.

As of the end of the 2016 season, Kaepernick, the original anthem protester of the NFL, has not played in the NFL. The NFL ultimately settled the suit with Kaepernick following a long court battle with the NFL, in which he accused the league of "blackballing" him and fellow activist Eric Reid, as well. Capricorn. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell apologized recently for refusing to listen to Kaepernick and other demonstrators. He then went so far as to suggest he should "encourage" Kaepernick to join a roster.

Kaepernick 's supporters inn the media argued for some time after his demonstrations started that his campaign was not meant as disrespect for America or the flag. Yet, given his determined effort to get his sponsor, Nike, to halt the distribution of their Betsy Ross Flag sneakers on July 4, 2019.

And, of course, in his tweet today, his strident condemnation of America, those claims are not, and never were, tolerable.
